Achaban House is under new ownership and will be opening as guest accommodation in April 2017 after a refurbishment. On offer will be private ensuite rooms with shared self-catering, offering both privacy and convenience. For advance enquiries please phone Matt on 01681 700205.
Achaban House is over 160 years old, set in a stunning location one mile from Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull with its own standing stone in the garden. From the house there are scenic views over picturesque Loch Pottie and the surrounding countryside.
The Ross of Mull has a unique landscape, a beautiful coastline and white shell-sand beaches due to the distinctive geology, featuring dramatic outcrops of red granite. The area provides an unspoiled habitat for wildlife and is especially rich in bird life, home to golden and white-tailed eagles amongst other birds of prey.
Fionnphort is the gateway to fascinating offshore islands including the ferry crossing to Iona, the birthplace of Scottish Christianity and the final resting place for many Scottish kings and queens. Iona is also a wildlife paradise, with the rare and elusive corncrake often heard.
From Fionnphort trips are available to the nearby Treshnish Islands, with the colony of puffins and other sea birds and Fingal's cave on the Island of Staffa. It is not uncommon to see whales and dolphins on these excursions.
Achaban House will offer spacious and tasteful ensuite private rooms with shared facilities for all visitors and outdoor enthusiasts including a well-equipped kitchen, dining room, lounge with log fire, drying room, laundry and storage for outdoor equipment. The house can accommodate 14 guests. Also within the grounds is the Ross of Mull Bunkhouse offering shared accommodation for individuals and groups of up to 8 guests. Our new website will be available soon with lots more information.
