Fionnphort Bay has white sands fringed with high pink granite outcrops, a stunning setting for the village. A giant rock, split down the middle sits in the centre of the bay, deposited there during the ice age. The Bay is popular with families and as a safe beach for paddling wild swimming, snorkelling and kayaking. Facing west over Iona, the Bay is one of the best places to watch the setting sun, which turns the granite cliffs a fiery pink. The local herd of Highland cattle is often to be found resting on the warm sand to the delight of visitors enjoying an alfresco drink in the local pub which overlooks the Bay.
