New Wild Food and Health Retreat

February 24, 2024

Forage, Ferment, Flow retreat: Friday 12th - 15th April 2024

We are delighted to announce a a new type of retreat for Achaban House which very much reflects the natural environment of the Ross of Mull. The Wild Cooke is a foraging business based in Ardnamurchan on the West Coast of Scotland run by Lucy Cooke. For the past six years Lucy has been on a journey to learn about wild foods and foraging.  She is passionate about bringing wild ingredients into the kitchen, nature therapy, and community food. She loves to be outside and believes eating should be a full sensory experience!

Lucy is teaming up with colleagues Hannah Taylor and Jules Mitchell to provide a three-night experience at Achaban House, “Forage, Ferment, Flow” which celebrates nature, food, health and happiness. Hannah is a Naturopathic Nutritionist specialising in gut health and fermentation, owner of Gut Feelings Kombucha in Findhorn.  Jules is a qualified Seasonal Yoga practitioner who is passionate about making the yoga narrative approachable, inclusive and accessible for all.

The retreat dates are Friday 12th - 15th April 2024 and the prices are from £550 - £750 per person depending on room choice within Achaban House.  All catering is included with delicious meals full of tasty treats! Food is an important aspect of the retreat so look forward to a wild feast, a fermented banquet, and a very special lunch curated by the Pierhouse.

The Forage, Ferment, Flow packed programme is a wonderful collaboration of the expertise of Lucy, Hannah and Jules which at the same time takes full advantage of the beautiful natural environment of the Ross of Mull and Iona.  A gift bag with essentials for health and happiness is provided to each guest at the end of the visit.

The retreat includes:

  • An introduction to spring foraging
  • Outdoor Yoga sessions on the gardens of Achaban House or beach settings
  • Fermentation and gut health workshops
  • A visit to the Isle of Iona
  • Learning about fermented drinks and wild cocktails
  • Wild swimming opportunities
  • Relax in the wood fired hot tub in the grounds with lovely views
